Free formal CPD on professional indemnity insurance, liability and risk management


Webinar recordings now available on demand

To help NSW architects meet their professional indemnity insurance obligations under clause 15 of the NSW Architects Code of Professional Conduct, the NSW Architects Registration Board in collaboration with informed by Planned Cover presented two formal CPD webinars in March 2025 focusing on insurance, liability, and risk management in architectural practice.

Due to high demand, recordings of both webinars are now available to watch on demand until 30 July 2025. These sessions are designed to support architects in managing risk through better understanding of professional indemnity insurance and liability prevention strategies.

How professional indemnity insurance and contracts can manage risks

Felicity Dixon, Senior Risk Manager at Planned Cover, addresses key terms, conditions, and exclusions in professional indemnity insurance policies. Also covered are essential contract clauses, including requirements under the NSW Architects Code of Professional Conduct 2017, and guidance for managing contractual risk.

Reducing liability claims and keeping the right records

Wendy Poulton, Manager Risk Services at Planned Cover, covers common causes of defects and disputes in architectural practice and present strategies for minimising liability risks. Key topics include product specification, NCC compliance, cost disputes, and the importance of maintaining accurate records. Case studies provide practical insights.

After viewing each session, complete the short CPD quiz linked on the recording page. A pass rate of 60% or higher is required to receive your certificate automatically via email (please check spam/junk folders if not received).

The certificate will be dated with the day you complete the quiz. Manual certificates cannot be issued after this date.

Please note: There is a daily cap on the number of certificates that can be issued. If the cap has been reached, you will see an error message when attempting to complete the quiz. We recommend that you:

  • Diarise another day to return and complete the assessment (recordings are available until 30 July 2025).
  • While the content is fresh in your mind, you may wish to write down your answers using the downloadable PDFs of the quiz questions:
