Announcing recipients of the 2023 Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship
This year, the NSW ARB has again upheld its enduring commitment to advancing architectural research through the allocation of over $125,000 in BHTS funds to 5 exceptional individuals. These scholarships are dedicated to fostering the growth of architectural talent and encouraging global perspectives within the field of architecture.
Each recipient is granted funding ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 to support their research travels, enabling them to contribute valuable insights and innovations that will enrich the NSW architectural community at large. This significant initiative is made possible through the Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship fund, diligently administered with the support of Perpetual Trustee.
The 2023 Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship recipients are:

Andrea's study focuses on the architectural preservation and future identity of Chinatowns globally. Research in cities like San Francisco, New York, Houston, and Milan will explore how architecture can sustain these vibrant cultural hubs.
Home (like) Birth
Grace seeks to document and design homelike birth environments within global healthcare systems. The investigation aims to bridge the gap between architecture and healthcare, enhancing birth experiences through design.
Killing Our Darlings
D’Arcy's project is an exploration of the Murray Dhungala and Darling Baaka river systems, seeking solutions for the built environments and ecosystems affected by historical practices. The project will generate dialogue on sustainable and responsible regional development.
