An exploration of people-made settlements and grass-roots community development in the Philippines.
This report closely investigates the roles and approaches of participants in four community development projects, demonstrating their impact on the community and their relevance to the practice of community architecture in Australia. Additionally it examines the support process a community architect can provide that is sensitive to the community.
The report concludes that, while external support plays an important role in facilitating community development, a truly sustainable outcome embraces local ideas, knowledge, skills and process as the backbone of projects.
