Kids Construct: Kids & youth participation in construction
Education, Construction & Materiality
Australia, United States
The study focuses on youth engagement programs in the USA for children ranging from 5 to 25 and covering design build programs, maker spaces, embedded school programs, after school and summer camps and apprenticeships. The premise of this research is that kids and youth are capable and willing to engage in construction projects and that construction is an untapped opportunity for community engagement.
The report explores risk and responsibility, as well as practice and entrepreneurial models that incorporate community participation and includes reflections on the various projects visited, and a summary of key findings and recommendations for the future.
