NSW ARB partnership with Australia by Design to grow in 2018

One of the 4 objects of the Architects Act is to promote a better understanding of architecture in the community. The Board does this in a number of ways. To date, the Sydney Architecture Festival has provided the greatest reach to the community through talks, tours, events and exhibitions. Since it first began in 2007, #SydArchFest has reached more than 45,000 Sydneysiders face to face, with more than 3,00,000 impressions on social media in the last 3 years alone. We’ve featured on your nightly news, and in international media.

But over the last year, we’ve been working with Melbourne-based MWC Media on their landmark ‘Australia by Design’ series for Network Ten.

Originally designed to showcase a ‘top 10’ of architectural projects from the last year around Australia, the show’s producers - like us - have found that architecture can’t be de-coupled from the materials, products and technologies that it uses, and it can’t ignore the Australian landscape that so often drives the architecture in the first place. 

That’s why we’re proud that our partnership has grown from run of 9 episodes on architecture in 2017, to a series that will air on Network Ten in 2018 featuring architecture, product design and landscape architecture - all under the ‘Australia by Design’ banner.

The really good news is that ‘Australia by Design’ is online - ensuring that all 80 architectural projects, and 50 exemplars of Australian product design from the 2017 series can be found anytime. Next year, this will grow to include landscape, with an even greater online presence.
