Re-registration

Non-practising or deregistered architects who now wish to be reinstated to full registration on the Register of Architects must complete the below form and comply with the prescribed conditions for application.  Conditions on re-registration as a practising architect may apply depending on how long you have been in the non-practising category: 0-3 years: Automatic processing of application.
 

Conditions on re-registration as a practising architect may apply depending on how long you have been in the non-practising category:

0-3 years: Automatic processing of application.

3-5 years: Application to be accompanied by a current CV showing work and a record of CPD. You
may be required to attend a refresher course in professional practice, and may be required to attend
an interview at the discretion of the Registrar if your record isn't current.

5+ years: As above but likely to be required to attend a refresher course in professional practice within
3 months of restoration to the register or registration, and be required to attend an interview unless
otherwise advised by the Registrar.

Architects Learning Groups

Architecture has always been a team effort. An Architects' Learning Group is a group of architects who have come together for the purpose of shared learning. If the Group follows the guidelines produced by the Board, participants in the Group's activities can claim formal CPD hours. Participation is voluntary and Groups are organised by architects themselves. Groups may form on the basis of location, or shared interests. Each Learning Group should identify an 'Administrator' to complete the Form and submit it to the Board.

Pathways to registration as an architect

There are many pathways to register as an architect in NSW. Common to all the pathways is the principle that candidates should meet the competencies detailed in the National Standard of Competency for Architects - the standard developed by the profession and accepted by all Architects Registration Boards in Australia as defining the threshold level of knowledge and experience necessary for a person to practice as an architect.
