A study of the policies and architectures of intergenerational care centres in Northern Europe. The research explored facilities that create links between generations for those who do not have immediate access to an extended family. For example in Germany, Mehrgenerationenhaus (Multi-generational
house) or community centers are being developed that actively encourage seniors to participate in activities alongside and within childcare centres.

The author visited nine case study projects across the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland operating out of a range of architectural typologies. Key learnings and findings are provided in the areas of context, procurement, operation, services and architecture.
