Architectural Practice
London, Europe, Australia, United States

How can purpose-driven business be applied to architectural practice? A ‘purpose driven’ business is founded on the values and ethics rather than financial ambition. This report loks at Benefit Corporations (B-Corps), for-profit corporate entities that includes positive impact on society, workers, the community and the environment in addition to profit as legally defined goals.

It explores the implementation of purpose-driven business for social impact within a broad context of businesses, organisations and companies, in order to identify the key challenges and benefits of delivering upon such an aspirational approach.

The author spoke to over 20 people across Australia, Germany, UK and USA. This report commences with a summary of key interviews, followed by an analysis of common themes and a deeper investigation into innovative approaches applicable to the architectural design processes.
